Fretwork/lattice in Reception Room/Family Room
Fretwork in Reception Room/Family Parlor. The family oral history is that William and Nora acquired this fretwork on a trip to India.
The source of this fretwork is known only through family oral history that William and Nora acquired it on a trip to India. A similar technique is known in Japan. Kumiko is a beautiful Japanese technique developed in 600-700 AD that involves assembling thin wooden pieces without the use of nails. Pieces are grooved, punched and mortised before being individually fitted using a plane, saw, chisel and other tools for fine adjustments.
