The Florida East Coast Railway Freight Depot was constructed in 1926. The land on which it stood was purchased by the railroad from the Union Cypress Lumber Mill of Hopkins. A one-story Masonry Vernacular building, it was characterised by pilasters, stylized turrets, tile cresting, and recessed panels located over each window bay. Four large loading bays comprised part of the west elevation. The depot was the last remaining building in Melbourne that had been associated with the railroad.
